A handfasting around your promises
A handfasting brings hands, a cord, and spoken promises together. It can be the central ritual or part of a larger exchange of vows. Tell us what the gesture means to you, and we’ll help bring that meaning into the ceremony.
Words to go with the cord
You can use your own vows, repeated phrases, or words shared together. We can help write them as part of your service and guide the gesture and spoken parts while you take part.
How you want to take part
A handfasting can involve several people and can be done seated or with different hand and cord positions. Tell us what works for you. We’ll leave time for each part and help connect readings or words of support to the ritual.
Guiding the gesture and the words
We introduce the handfasting, guide the cord gesture and promises, and lead the ceremony through to the closing.
White and beige cords, commemorative certificates, and certificate holders are available as extras. You can also request ceremony photography, subject to availability.
