Washington marriage-license support

Help with your Washington wedding’s license dates, witnesses, and ceremony paperwork.

Questions before your wedding

Bring us your questions about how the license and witnesses fit into your ceremony. We’ll help you find the issuing county’s information and work through the arrangements with you. The county auditor handles the application and questions about your particular paperwork.

The license and your ceremony date

Your Washington marriage license has a waiting period and an expiry date. Use the dates and current information provided by the issuing county. Your officiant can discuss how those dates relate to the day you want to marry.

The people there for your vows

For a Washington wedding, the spouses make their declarations before the officiant and at least two attending witnesses. We can work that spoken part into your ceremony and discuss who will witness it.

You can request provided witnesses as an extra. We confirm the number, price, and availability for your date.

The ceremony paperwork

We can discuss when the ceremony paperwork is signed and who handles it afterward. Washington law assigns the certificate return to the person solemnizing the marriage, and the issuing county provides the filing instructions. Your officiant can explain the arrangements for your ceremony. Questions about certified copies go to the county.

Help with a question along the way

If you’re unsure about license dates or witnesses, let us know before the ceremony. We’ll help you work out what it means for your wedding and find the relevant county information.
